AKC S.T.A.R Puppy & Basic Obedience

6 week basic obedience for puppies starting at 8 weeks through 11 months at start of class. *Dogs over a year can attend class but will not earn S.T.A.R Title.

This class is designed to teach basic obedience skills (come, sit, down, stay, leave it, loose leash walking, and other skills). There will not be a free for all play group, this will be structured, safe and fear free training.

Each class is limited to 6 participants. Prepayment to secure your place is required in advance. Your spot will not be held until payment is received. Cost for the class is $320 ($300 cash/check).

Scent Work 101

Scent work is a sport wherein dogs learn to search for and locate specific scents in various elements, which includes interior, exterior, container, vehicle, and buried searches. Dogs "see" the world through their nose, and therefore a large part of their brain is devoted to processing the information they detect through scent. Not only will this sport strengthen the bond between you and your dog, it will provide mental stimulation and an outlet for those breeds that just can't seem to get enough exercise! For dogs that can't compete in high-impact sports, Scent Work is a perfect way to engage their brain in a safe, gentle manner. 

Scent Work 101 is for dogs and handlers with no previous experience in scent work. The goal of this class is to engage with and build your dog's drive to hunt and search, introduce you to foundational skills for scent work competitions, and imprint your dog on the birch scent so that, by the end of the class, your dog is able to conduct very basic interior searches. 

Pre-requisites: Ideally, your dog is capable of a sit-stay while you move 6 feet away from them. Nothing else is required but a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and have fun!

The class is a 6 week class, limited to 8 participants. Prepayment to secure your place is required in advance. Your spot will not be held until payment is received. Cost for the class is $330 ($310 cash/check).

AKC Novice Trick Dog

AKC Trick Dog is one of AKC’s most popular training programs that is fun for both the handler and the dog. In this class you will learn the skills to perform the Novice level tricks. On the last day of class dog and handler will be tested on their ability to perform 10 tricks from the novice list of tricks. Successful completion of 10 tricks will result in earning AKC Novice Trick Dog title.

The class is a 5 week class, limited to 6 participants. Prepayment to secure your place is required in advance. Your spot will not be held until payment is received. Cost for the class is $220 ($200 cash/check).

AKC Rally Novice

AKC Rally is a sport that showcases the handler and dog’s ability to work together as a team. Pairs move through a course of about 15 signs, each directing the team to perform an obedience cue or maneuver. Not only does this sport help strengthen your dog’s ability to understand obedience cues and to work under distractions, but it also helps build a stronger bond between you and your dog.

This class is considered a “drop-in” class. You may attend as many or as few classes as you wish. At each class, a novice level rally course will be set up through which each team will have the opportunity to run as many times as they desire, time permitting. An instructor will be present to coach teams through their mistakes and answer any questions.

Classes will be offered Saturdays at 9:30-10:30am on the following dates:

August 8, 15, 29, September 12, 19 and 26 more to be scheduled in October, check back!

Price: $20 per session or $75 for 4 sessions. If you purchase the package of 4 sessions, you may attend any combination of four Saturdays of your choosing.
